Theology of the Body South Africa is a group of young South Africans who are passionate about the teachings of St John Paul the Great on love, life, morality and sexuality called the Theology of the Body. We hope this site to be an extension of our ministry: spreading the fullness of this teaching and sharing our own experiences of the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives through “TOB”. How did it all start and what is this all about? Keep reading to find out.
WHO WE ARE
Most of the people involved in this ministry discovered the Theology of the Body around 2008 to 2009, either through a retreat or TOB for teens course ran at our parishes.
We felt the impact of this so much and wanted to delve more, to understand ourselves more and explore our faith even more. We needed to to know more. If the teens programme impacted us so greatly what would one aimed at us as young adults do?
Before we knew it a study group was formed and every Monday we would meet at our mentor, Marie-Anne’s house to delve more into JP II’s “Man and Woman He Created them” as well as to fellowship with one another and thereby strengthen our faith.
We explored what it means to be Catholic in this day and age and began to look at life through the eyes of love, to see others as God sees them: as His beloved children of infinite dignity and value.
Our faith was reignited, the desires of our hearts suddenly made total sense. We could not keep this teaching to ourselves- We had to spread it to all, family, friends and our parishes. So our ministry of hosting retreats facilitating more courses, and being invited to share this good news across the country began. We have addressed hundreds of people from all walks of life.
We invite you to have a look around our site and contact us if you would like to hear more. In the meantime we ask for your prayers for the growth of our ministry.
