Stations of the Cross 13 & 14: South Africa

 13. Jesus’ body is taken down from the cross

We adore you o Christ and we praise you

because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world

Jesus’ broken body reminds us of his humanity.  He has a body like us that needed sustenance and exercise, that could be bruised and battered and through which he experienced the world around Him.  This common experience of humanity reminds us of our shared human dignity calling us to solidarity with our global family.  How do we respond?

 14. Jesus’ body is placed in the tomb

We adore you o Christ and we praise you

because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world

As Christians we know that God wins the day but that doesn’t always make it easier in our struggles.  How many of us are living in our ‘dark 3 days’?  How many of us say that our efforts to bring about mercy and peace in our country are in vain?  Our faith ensures us that God wins and darkness ends. The seeds we plant today will bear fruit tomorrow. God bless South Africa and all its people!
