Being on the internet as often as I am, and following a lot of American Catholic bloggers, Seek 2015 was a feature in January. I didn’t have the time then to explore what it was but when I did, boy am I glad I did. SEEK is a gathering of college students where they delve deeper into the mystery that is God. Think of it as a mini localised World Youth Day week, sans the Pope. The fellowship there must have been legendary. It’s organised by FOCUS, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students in the US and it made me think hey we could have one of those in South Africa! We have ACTS, the Association of Catholic Tertiary students, I remember being on the committee of my chapter at Rhodes University, but we never did much beside organise the choir for mass and guided retreats.
As I was exploring the Seek 2015 website I came across the videos gallery, and there was a thumbnail that looked familiar. One of the people on the TOB Whatsapp group had sent us a link to watch Sr. Mary Gabriel’s women’s session entitled Fearless Hearts. So I decided why not watch it now…. started watching it, got really excited because she speaks so well and is so relevant that I had to stop and blog about it, so here I am telling you all… go and watch this video (and the rest of the videos there)!
An excerpt under the video on the FOCUS equip page reads:
“A lot of the hidden struggles women face stem from forgetting who we are: our unshakable identity as daughters of God. The truth of who we are sets us free from ungodly fear and shame and reveals our purpose and destiny, unleashing transforming love into our hearts and the world.”
With those words how can you not want to watch? Well goodbye , I’m off to finish Sr. Mary Gabriel’s video and hear her words of wisdom. You can join me by viewing the video below 🙂
